This is NOT a ROBOTERIA event.
It’s put on by our ally and DJ alumnus MANOS, and now with added DJ PANDEMONIUM and the Restricted Entertainment gradiosity and clout.
I’m not even posting this to say, “Go support these guys!” (But you still should.)

You like Tiga, huh?
I’ve never been able to find much info on it, but there’s this 12″ single for “Far (From Home)” that has a Digitalism remix on one side, and the other side is apparently “just” the “Speed Of Sexor Reprise” from the Sexor LP…. or is it?
The B-Side turns out to be an extended version of this track, despite no such indication. It runs just over six minutes, and plays out beautifully. I have yet to spot this longer version available anywhere else (although it was on an electro compilation on Beatport back in the day, but territorial restrictions prevented Canadians from getting ahold of it). Which is a shame – and too bad this version wasn’t on the album. That extra minute-and-a-half lift this song up to a new level, and there’s hardly any indication out there that this different version exists.
Here’s the shorter LP version.
Tiga – Far (From Home) via YouTube
I wish I had a link or something to this extended 12″-version I’m trying to point out, but it looks like your best bet is to find the 12″ single on vinyl. If you’re a crate digger too, just be on the lookout for the 12″ single by Tiga with the light purple checkered pattern on the cover.
_________
Then there’s a similar situation with a 12″ single for Sparks’ “Tryouts For The Human Race” (1979), where it appears to just be the regular album track according to the label, but it’s actually an entirely new recording, and a far superior version, in my opinion. To make matters more confusing, there were several editions of the 12″ single for “Tryouts…”, and most of them have a standard, extended version of the LP track, but there’s practically no way to tell which version you’re getting, and nothing to indicate that this newly recorded version is anything but the LP version, to begin with!

Wall of Voodoo – Mexican Radio
When JJ Jackson first showed this on MTV, he kept calling them Wall of Doo-Doo.
And can someone please find out for me if this was directed by anyone who did early Devo videos.
Best thing about this video: The Beans.
